APPLETON, Wis. (WTAQ) - An Appleton man who’s accused of sexually assaulting a 3-year-old boy will undergo a mental exam.
It will determine whether 28-year-old Joseph Skenandore is able to help with his defense. A judge ordered the mental exam Wednesday at the request of Skenandore’s attorney.
Police said Skenandore took the boy from his yard on July 20th, touched him inappropriately, and then took him to park where he planned to molest him – or possibly kill him.
The defendant is charged with felony counts of child abduction, child enticement, and child sexual assault. Prosecutors say he lives in a home for the developmentally-disabled.
In 2003, Skenandore was charged with sexually assaulting another child – but he was found mentally incompetent to stand trial.
