PHOENIX, Ariz. (WTAQ) - The state of Arizona is appealing a federal judge's ruling blocking key parts of the state's immigration law.

In the appeal filed Thursday, lawyers for Governor Jan Brewer are asking that the appeal be considered quickly.

Wednesday U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton issued a preliminary injunction, delaying some of the more controversial parts of SB 1070. It includes requiring officers check a person's immigration status during other enforcement if there's a reasonable suspicion the person is in the country illegally.

Brewer says she'll take the fight all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.
