In August of 1970 the largest ever rock festival was held on the Isle of Wight with 600,000 concert goers and  some of the biggest names in music including The Doors, Jimi Hendrix Chicago, Jethro Tull, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and The Who. Less than four months earlier,Paul McCartney announced that the Beatles had disbanded so a festival full of great artists and bands served as a reminder that even though the sixties had passed, some of the experiences and feelings that were shared were still around. Unfortunately, in less than five weeks, Jimmy Hendrix & Janis Joplin would both be lost to drug overdoses. It was painfully apparent for some that The 60’s were over.Tomorrow after Bob & Tom we’ll feature nine great songs that kicked off the seventees on Wozz’s Nine at Nine.
