Metallica has is now in the shoe business. The band is continuing its creative partnership with Vans by introducing a signature collection of four shoe styles, each designed by a member of the band.
The shoes go on sale this month and reflect each member's influences from the worlds of music, action sports and art. Each design also includes a video that shows the "shared passions" of the band member.
James Hetfield was inspired by his favorite black boots, so he added hex-bolt eyelets and a skull-and-crossbones motif to "Metallicize" the Vans Sk8-Hi Deconstruct.
Lars Ulrich updated the Vans Classic Era Laceless with brushed twill materials and a print borrowed from the diamond-plate pattern on his snare, along with a Dirty Donny character on the inside heel.
Kirk Hammett used a guitar pick inspired by his Ouija guitar on the inside heel of his Slip-On. It's also made of hemp, which is a reflection of his love for surfing and nature.
Robert Trujillo has The Escuela shoe, which includes Aztec calendar artwork designed by his wife. It's carved into one of his bass guitars and placed against a blue background. Trujillo wore Vans as a young skater in Venice, California.
