On Thursday, Metallica paid tribute to their late bassist, Cliff Burton, on the 26th anniversary of his passing with a free concert download from a 1984 concert featuring Cliff.

Burton died in a September 27, 1986 tour bus accident in Sweden while Metallica were on a European trek to promote their "Master Of Puppets" album.

The group posted a photo of Burton (see above), and followed that up with a second message: "While you're remembering Cliff on the 26th anniversary of his passing, give a listen to this free download from the 'Ride the Lightning' tour." more on this story
