Like coffee? LOVE coffee? Addicted to coffee? Any of those will do. Here are some tips to help make your coffee better. You deserve the best, don't you? No way! Why are you so damn special? Fine. F*ck it. I'll share these with you anyway.

[Sorry I'm being grouchy. I'm not a morning person.]

[Total caffeine addict right here. It's ridiculous.]
[Ok - now this is just annoying.]

COFFEE - here we go.... Tips on how to make it better from Michael Phillips, co-founder of Handsome Coffee Roasters and World Barista Champion in 2010:

1.) Pay attention to ratios. Use 1 tablespoon of coffee for every 3 oz of water. Four tablespoons of coffee and 12 ounces of water will give you a good 10 ounce cup of coffee.

2.) Read the label. Look for a roasting date. Not an expiration date. Coffee is at its best when it's used 7 to 10 days after the roasting date. After that, the quality drops.

3.) Quality grinder. If possible, get a grinder that crushes the beans as opposed to slices them. Crushing gives you a more consistent result throughout the coffee. Try a French Press. You'll taste the difference.

4.) Buying pre-ground coffee? That's alright, but go back to #2. Only buy enough to get you through a week or two. Once you hit two weeks, your coffee is stale. If you're a true addict, you won't care. You'll drink day old coffee. But, you deserve a nice hot fresh cup, even if you turn into an evil troll without your coffee.

Here are more tips for a better cup of coffee:

5.) If you're going to be using coffee right away, don't freeze it.

6.) Use good tasting water. If you can use filtered water, do it.

7.) Keep your pot clean... and your house clean of pot if your brother-in-law is a DEA agent. What? Too early for a joke?

8.) Try different roasts and types of coffee. Different roasts have different tastes. There may be one out there you've never tried, but you'll love.
