Billy Corgan Predicts a 'New Rise' in Music [VIDEO]

I can see how some people may take some of what Corgan has to say in the wrong way. He talks about how we (the Western Civilization) needs to move passed the 'death culture,' 'retro-mania,' and 'fantasy' that surrounds rock. I don't think he's bashing the 80's or the 90's, but he wants us to move forward.

He even talks about the Smashing Pumpkins in that context. EX: "You think people in Greece right now give a f**k about whether or not I still talk to my old Smashing Pumpkins band members?"

History backs up what Corgan says. Before grunge was called 'grunge' and became part of the mainstream, it was just different. It was a sound created by independent artists, which caught on and blew up.

Something different than what we have now will emerge eventually. Corgan predicts it will come from somewhere else. Maybe China or Africa. And after that new sound/movement emerges, another one will come by and unexpectedly blow our skirts up.

BONUS: Here's a video of Corgan talking about aging in the music industry.
