Scientists Accidentally 'Cure' Colorblindness

Posted by Amber Lee on

If you suffer from the most common type of colorblindness, not being able to see the difference between red and green, that is about to change. Scientists created specially treated purple tinted glasses that allow colorblind individuals to see reds and greens. It's not exactly a 'cure,' because you do need to wear the glasses. But, it's a way around it. The glasses are called Oxy-Iso

The discovery was a fortunate accident. Scientists were trying to develop a lens that made it easier for doctors/nurses to locate veins or bruises on patients. One of the men who tested it out happened to be colorblind. As soon as he put them on, he was able to distinguish between red and green for the first time in his life and see the full spectrum of colors.
