This 65 year old man named Denis Duthie got methanol poisoning from bad vodka. The standard treatment is to use ethanol to stop the methanol from metabolizing. That's what caused the loss of vision. But when the man reached the hospital, the doctors realized they didn't have enough ethanol in stock. SO, one of the docs hit the liquor store, grabbed a bottle of Johnny Walker Black, and made the patient drink it. As you guessed, the ethanol in the whiskey did the trick and the mans vision returned. ‘I thought it was pretty bloody good,’ Duthie told the Herald. ‘I’m alive. The hospital was absolutely awesome. Couldn’t have been better.’
